So I needed to go in tonight instead of tomorrow night since dh has a meeting. I leave the house at 9:50pm, 10min drive, get registered, go upstairs to ante, get hooked up, chat with the RN for a couple minutes. Then there's a knock at the door; curtain is closed but some lady and her dh come in saying her water broke ten minutes ago, she's nearly screaming. RN takes her to a stretcher near me and asks "did you just push?" Mom says no, I don't think so. RN says "Ummm, you're 7-8, maybe we'll just stay here". Someone else comes in to help and baby is born two stretchers down from me at 10:28! Its a boy!
Sheesh! This is why I chose not to work L&D, I like my nice predictable elective c/s in the OR, none of this stuff! Some of us are in labor for two or more weeks, this chick's water breaks, ten minutes later she's on ante pushing on a stretcher and baby is delivered in ten minutes! She walked in off the street at 7-8cm! Maybe come in a bit earlier next time;)
Joey was good, moving around as usual, nice accels-drama! Seriously, when's the full moon???
