FOA, the serious stuff, Friendship in Marriage
It is when we are doing things together that friendship springs up –
painting, sailing ships, praying, philosophizing,
and fighting shoulder to shoulder.
Friends look in the same direction.
- C.S. Lewis
Today's Vow:My husband, my treasure, from this day forward I take thee to be my constant friend and companion.
The Challenge:
Carve out time in your day to enjoy moments of friendship.
Taken from Love Dare:
Patience lets me hold on when marriage is hard.
Patience is the gift of another chance.
Patience is a promise that I will wait.
Patience fosters peace and quiet.
Patience is where love meets wisdom.
Patience means that I will wait and forgive while others correct their mistakes.
Many of us are starting back to our "normal" schedules today. And on top of it--we are adding new routines thanks to those resolutions we made. Let me encourage you to seek God first, in all these areas. May our actions, words, things we eat, money we save etc, all be because He has guided us to that point. Matthew 6:33
Father, we pray that you would be with us as we start our week off. Help us to know what You would want us to do in every area of our lives, and may we walk in obedience to what You have asked us! Thank you for another day of grace and for the chance to live our lives as a love song to You! Amen
Dear God,
The way in which you designed marriage is beautiful. Although it can be a platform for abundant joy, it can also be the source of deep pain. Pain that may be difficult to handle, but pain that has the ability to transform our ways or be aware of our behavior. I pray that husbands and wives would continue to grow in their marriage regardless of circumstance or experience. Help us to be humble, forgiving, loving, and patient. I pray that those who are suffering from pain in any way would find healing in their marriage and that their relationship would be stronger. May your power fill us so that we can endure all the different seasons of marriage. May your Holy Spirit guide us in our reactions and responses to each other. Please let your healing hand mend and restore any brokenness in Jesus name AMEN!

I woke up feeling tired and sinusy and kind of irritable. Yay for another Monday! The preschoolers start back today, my kindergartener back tomorrow. Back to reality! What an excellent Christmas vacation, we stayed home and enjoyed times of peace and togetherness. Hubby got to spend lots of time playing Wii with N, it was great! Yesterday I spent most of my day working on my last assignment for one of my courses, I am so happy I got so much done! My friend M really kept me motivated, I might have actually completed more than she did! Over the holidays I was able to attend my Alanon meetings, do my readings in CTC and Love Dare and journal each morning, often journalling again before bed. I've been doing my rosary before falling asleep each night, doing bed time prayers with the kids each night and expressing gratitude with them for all of our gifts that day. Its been an amazing few weeks, my best Christmas season ever! I missed my mom quite a bit and had a low day on Friday, but I feel refreshed and renewed and ready! Today I will get on the treadmill before bed and working on my 450 miles over the year and my 1.3lb loss each week. Amen! Marie
Dear Heavenly Father,
I pray for my husband today. I pray that you would continue to pour your Holy Spirit upon him, enabling him to lead our family. You have called him to be the head of our family and I pray that he embraces this role wholeheartedly. Continue to build him up with courage, confidence, and wisdom. I pray that all husbands would do the same! Fill them with your knowledge, the authority of your word, and the ability to love like Christ in Jesus Name AMEN!
