Jan 2nd

I just did some cutting exercises with Nolan and Elizabeth.  At his concert last month at school, I noticed that he couldn't cut around his antlers during crafts, so over the holidays I picked up a Sesame Street cut and glue book and he worked on that today.  He knows how to hold the scissors but is having trouble figuring out where to hold the paper and how to go around curves.  I'd say last month was a 2/10 and today he was a 4/10.  Elizabeth I don't think has ever even held scissors and today I'd rate her a 1/10 as she was having trouble just figuring out which hand to use and how to pick them up.  She was able to do little snip marks all the way around coloring pages, but couldn't figure out how to cut a line through to the middle of the paper.

I haven't been very good at letting them do crafts, it was hard with so many of them so little, but now I see how behind Nolan is with writing and cutting so its time to get them all going, I think.  The twins could be prek ready in four months so we'd better get on it.

I've also been doing Brain Quest prek with Nolan this week and I am incredibly surprised at how much he understands, esp up, down, around, ahead, behind and he can recognize most letters from 1-10, very cool!  He also knows sight cards caps and smalls from A-T, and he learned how to play Go Fish last week, love it!

I really enjoyed being able to sit and help them do this stuff, maybe a homeschooling future??
