I read another blog where their church had a children's Happy Birthday Jesus party. I think I might do that with the kids today. Two weeks ago, I started teaching the kids the reason that we have Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. We colored nativity and three kings pictures and put them on the wall in the kitchen. It feels good that my kids will associate Christmas with more than just presents and more stuff. I never did, so once I got older and the presents thinned out, as they do when you become a teenager then young adult, it really hurt.
I think we'll have our own Happy Birthday Jesus party after children's mass today, who doesn't love cake??
