Scholarly Saturday

You know you're a mom when you have to vacuum out your purse.

Today was my 2nd day of my new course Educ 610 Qualitative Research.  Our instructor is amazing!  She has had a Phd for many years and has an amazing way of teaching adults-wow!  She is organized and directed and helpful, and understanding and kind!  I really, really appreciate having her as a Master's prof, and she's from here!  I had a nice visit with colleagues, and tonight hubby and I are getting a sitter and going out for dinner and a movie-yay!  We need this special time together to reconnect, to date again.  Sometimes we leave our family and child discussions to our alone time, and forget how to discuss each other in supportive and loving ways.  Tonight I am purposely going to avoid initiating any child or parenting or financial discussions, and see what comes next! 


Day 8 - Lord, I pray that my husband will work hard to provide for our family, to the best of his ability. I pray that the character qualities necessary for a successful career and ministry will be a growing part of his character - persistence, decisiveness, strength, an analytical mind, organizational skills, positive relationships with people, determination, etc. (Rom. 12:11; 1 Cor. 15:58

Day 5 - Father, help my children not to be like many others around them, but let them be alert and self-controlled in all they do. (1 Thes. 5:6)

I cannot control other people. I cannot control what other people say about me, whether they're family or "friends" who speak bad of myself or my family, whether people I love continue to support the haters. I can only control how I feel, what I think, do and say, and whose house I burn down. Oh dear, am I typing outloud again? What a crappy week! To hear some people talk you'd think I was the worst wife and mother in the world. Maybe I am? Never thought of that perspective lol. Hate, haters, you'll get what's due. Oh dear, guilty of typing out loud again;)

Something I heard from a friend last year. Don't complain about your spouse to your friends. Friends don't forget even if you have and they will use it against your marriage later. Gossip is never good especially if its about your spouse.
